FCA-YSU Game Day 2009

FCA held its annual Game Day event at YSU Saturday, November 14th.  The Lord blessed us with a beautiful,  sunny day.

After gathering in the north lobby of Beeghley Center,   the Game Day group was treated to the "Everything" skit performed  by Old North Church’s youth group. FCA board member, David Kohout spoke to the students about choices.  Former Boardman HS football player, Cameron Shaffer gave testimony about the bad choices in his life that helped him to realize the best choice in his life...Jesus Christ!   After lunch, the group watched a great game as the YSU football team defeated Illinois State.

Past Game Day Events

The FCA-YSU Game Day event for 2008 was Saturday, October 25, 2008.  The pregame event began at 2:00 PM in the north lobby of Beeghley Center at Youngstown State University.  This year's guest speaker, Steve McGranahan, the World's Strongest Redneck did an awesome job "wowing" the audience with his incredible hand strength and then pointing everyone to the Word of God to make a powerful point.

2007 FCA-YSU Game Day Event
October 20, 2007

The Steel Valley FCA welcomed former Ohio State defensive tackle Joel Penton as its guest speaker at the annual FCA-YSU Game Day event held in the north lobby of Beeghley Center on Saturday, October 20, 2007.   Joel shared his story of growing up in a small town and his dream to play college football.   At a young age he and his friends made a pact to never drink or do drugs.  He walked the audience through his high school years showing how difficult that pact was to keep and how he lost many of his friends because of his commitment to that pact.  He then tells what it was like to realize his goal and be recruited to play football at Ohio State University.  His talk had quite an impact on all that heard it.

Everyone attending the event was given an FCA t-shirt that was printed by Trolio's in Boardman and underwritten by Denise DeBartolo York.  They also enjoyed Chick-Fil-A sandwiches from the Southern Park Mall as well as other treats.  When Joel finished signing autographs, the group walked over to watch the YSU football game.
Joel has only one thing to say to his Michigan fan: can you say "Appalachian State?"
