One Way 2 Play-Drug Free! Assemblies | OW2Play speaker Shawn Harper rips a phone book in half to the delight of the Campbell Middle School students.
| What is a OW2P Assembly?
In the wake of our country’s rash of teen problems, including drug and alcohol abuse, administrators, superintendents and parent groups are desperately searching for answers. Behind all of the rhetoric of new and improved programming, curricula and focus groups, there is a glaring need for relevant, engaging and challenging interaction with students about this issue.
The answer is the One Way 2 Play Drug Free! assembly. Throughout the presentation, students will have the opportunity to examine their personal decision-making process. They will gain an understanding of the elements in their world that shape the decisions they make.
The Steel Valley FCA brings former professional athletes to the area and offers FREE OW2P assemblies to local schools. These events are either paid for by grants or by partnering with organizations such as Sports World ministries. This past school year we brought three former professional football players to area schools: Ray McElroy, Shawn Harper and Steve Grant. Approximately 10,000 students heard messages like: "you are not born winners, you are not born losers--you are born choosers," "If you don't know who you are, you're who they say you are," and "When the Eternal tells you who you are on the internal you don't need the external." | Campbell High School students watch as Shawn rolls up a frying pan.
