 The Girard High School huddle has gone through many changes since last school year. Long-time huddle coach, Tom Archer, retired from teaching and plans to pass the FCA torch to another adult, fell through during the summer. It looked like FCA would no longer have a presence on the campus of Girard High School. But Senior Dale Leatherberry was not going to let that happen. He asked the new librarian if it would be ok for the huddle to mete in the Library before school. What Dale didn’t know was that the new librarian, Patti Angelo and her husband Tom were long-time friends with FCA and understood the positive impact it had on a school campus. Patti agreed to have the meetings in the library and has come alongside Dale as the new adult Huddle Coach.
Dale has done a great job leading the huddle. In addition to the morning meetings he has planned social events like ice skating so the group can build relationships. At Christmas, the group made Christmas ornaments for every teacher in the school. One teacher commented that in all her years of teaching, no school club had ever done anything for the entire staff. Way to go Girard FCA!
